You deserve, once in a lifetime, the opportunity to visit an olde-fashioned working country store and reminisce the old days. Nostalgia has a place in your life, so don't miss visiting historical Sharp's Country Store.
The old store is listed in the Pocahontas County registration of historical buildings, as is the old log house that is behind the store in which General Lee ate supper in and is believed to be the oldest house in Pocahontas County . Robert E. Lee and his Confederate army encamped at nearby Linwood in 1862. Like to see it?
Civil War action was carried out around the store's location in which the deaths to William Sharps’ 3 sons took place. One joined the North, the other the South--brother against brother, and both killed. The third brother, a civilian, was shot by a Confederate.
If you liked the old antique country store display in The Cultural Center in Charleston, you'll certainly enjoy visiting the working old Sharp's Country Store at Slatyfork, WV. 26291, and talking with proprietor Dave Sharp. Sharp's Country Store, fortunately, is nestled in the middle of all the pristine beauty and attractions in Pocahontas County which dominates the tourist activities in West Virginia. Princess Pocahontas, if alive, would have a ball!
